The Start of My Life in This Town

Posted in Poetry/Lyrics at 7:16 am by bizarrerhymes

Staring at the front of the back of an empty chair
Where’s the person who should be sitting there?
I feel like the pits. People tell me I smell.
No amount of washing gets me out of this hell.

Oh! Lord do your worst, I’ve nothing to lose.
I’ve only got this self and it’s yours to use
“Is this place free” says a voice in my head
But my ears say it’s real so I can’t be dead.

In less than a moment life turns upside-down
The smiling face opposite lacks a frown
Asks if I know John and why I look down
Is this the start of my life in this town?
