Film

Posted in Poetry/Lyrics at 6:00 pm by bizarrerhymes

Take a Havana cigar
Place yourself in a bar
Pull that wide-brimmed hat
Just level with your eyes
(You call that character)

You carefully flick out
Your match when a lady
Wants a light for her smoke
And your eyes meet
(As the fog subsides)

She doesn’t know that
The film bubbles out of
The waste paper bin in the room
At the lab where the oil
Still burns into the night.

Dinner

Posted in Poetry/Lyrics at 7:28 pm by bizarrerhymes

When you mention because
I think to myself what is the reason?
As I put the table mats in place
That the Australian Aunty sent

Shakespeare where are you now?
It’s well past your time to take a bow
Nobody ever said it like you

The curry on the stove is gently cooking
My friends are gathering round
And I’m setting the cutlery
Temptation is de-corked and left to breathe.

To serve a meal is akin to a meeting,
It brings us all together
The hot and cold, sweet and sour,
Why do I try to explain….
it will never be the same

Gone With the Wind

Posted in Poetry/Lyrics at 8:46 pm by bizarrerhymes

You may think I will go with the wind
But I will call your bluff
For you it will be such a simple thing
But believe me it won’t be enough

He who laughs last, laughs longest
He doing that is the strongest
Giving me the elbow is your kind of story
That is your finale
When it suits you you’ll fawn
I’m afraid I’ve marked my territory.
